This information for patients staying in their homes contains important rules that may be helpful preventing infections. Older patients who stay at home most of their time are still more exposed to infections and diseases due to older age and chronic diseases.
Below is a number of rules that can help prevent disease:
Hand hygiene – It is very important to keep your hands hygienic – washing in water and soap especially after visiting the toilet, preparing food and cleaning your home.
Coughing and sneezing – one should cough and sneeze when the mouth and nose are not close to one’s hands. Used tissue paper should be thrown to a dedicated bin and be thrown away regularly
Fever – Fever beyond 37.5 celsius, check several times and contact your doctor to report
Feeling sick, dizziness – should contact the clinic
Visiting – please avoid being with a family member and visitors who are sick. A mask is recommended to protect the vulnerable
Keeping body hygiene – showers and replacing clothes at least once a day
Heating / cooling the home according to the seasons
Washing fruits and vegetables in soap, checking the expiration date.
Maintaining the correct temperature of foods in fridge and freezer (4-6 degrees in refrigerator -20 in the freezer)
Home Cleaning – Cleaning and Washing, Changing Bedding, airing one’s home frequently.
Maintaining these rules can prevent disease and maintain patient health.
